Super Smash Bros. pro player will receive salary in XRP

A well-known professional gamer will join SBI e-Sports: he has signed a contract that will allow him to receive his salary in the  XRP cryptocurrency . Kengo “Ken” Suzuki , professional player of the well-known fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU) for Nintendo Switch, has signed a contract with SBI e-Sports, the gaming branch of the financial giant SBI Holdings.

According to an official announcement published by SBI on 15 October, Ken will join the new "SSBU" division of SBI e-Sports. Ken will receive his annual salary in XRP rather than Japanese yen " based on the wishes of the player and his sponsor "  SBI VC Trade , a subsidiary of SBI operating in the cryptocurrency trading sector. On Twitter , Ken himself confirmed that he joined SBI e-Sports. SBI e-Sports was launched in June 2020 . In September, the company announced that it would pay its players in XRP under a sponsorship deal with VC Trade.

The world of gaming and that of cryptocurrencies are getting closer and closer: last month Atari unveiled more information on its new video game console , the Atari VCS, which will natively support the ERC-20 AtariToken token  and other blockchain features. Despite the enormous potential of using crypto tokens in video games, Mac Ocampo, Head of Growth at blockchain entertainment company Virtually Human Studio, stressed that " not all gamers are crypto traders, and not all crypto traders. I'm gamer ".
